Several years ago, more than 1400 people filled the Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul for a thrilling performance of the Brahms Requiem. Once again, Artistic Director John Corrie will assemble the voices of The Maine Music Society Chorale, the Bates College Choir, the Edward Little and Lewiston HS Chamber Choirs and the Basilica Schola along with the orchestras of MMS and Bates College to present Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage and this momentous Solemn Mass by the master of the Classical music period, Ludwig van Beethoven. This deeply moving piece is rarely performed because of the large size of the orchestra and the demanding scope of the music. The concert will be a memorable community event not to be missed.
